Top Chef

Top Chef is a famous reality game show in the United States that is being aired on the Bravo cable TV network. Bravo Top Chef features a number of chefs who compete with one another in weekly challenges. The Bravo TV Top Chef was actually inspired by a 90s Japanese cooking show called Iron Chef.

Similar to the show Iron Chef, Top Chef Bravo features a panel of judges. These judges are also professional and popular chefs from the food and wine industry. Top Chef eliminates one or more contestants each week until the final Top Chef winner for the season takes home a whopping $100,000 in hard cash. Not only that, the Top Chef TV show will feature the Top Chef show winner in the Food & Wine magazine as well. On top of that, the Top Chef TV winner will also make an appearance in Aspen, Colorado for the Food & Wine Classic annual event. The Food & Wine Classic is an affair presented by the magazine, Food & Wine, and it is held every June.

Top Chef on Bravo was launched in March of 2006. In Top Chef Season 1, Katie Lee Joel hosted the show together with judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons. In Season 2, Padma Lakshmi was given the honor to host the show, with the same panel of judges. In the first season, there were 12 chefs who competed against each other. The series was held in San Francisco, California.
